Information We Collect
When you use XMarks, we collect the following information:
- X Account Information: Your X username, display name, and profile picture when you sign in with X.
- Bookmarks: Your X bookmarks that you choose to sync with XMarks.
- Usage Data: How you interact with our service, including categories you create and bookmarks you organize.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the XMarks service
- Categorize your bookmarks using AI
- Understand which pages and features people use, so we can improve them
- Send important service updates
Data Privacy
Your bookmarks are private. They are stored on our servers so you can search them from any device, and they are never shown to other users or sold.
We share data only with the service providers needed to run XMarks:
- X: we read your bookmarks from X when you sync, using the access you grant at sign-in.
- AI providers (Anthropic): the text of your bookmarks is sent to an AI model solely to sort it into categories.
- Stripe: payment processing. Your card details go to Stripe and are never stored on our servers.
- PostHog: product analytics (pages visited and actions such as signing up or syncing). Bookmark content is not sent.
- SendGrid: account and service emails, if you have an email on file.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can export your bookmarks at any time from Settings. If you delete your account, we will permanently delete all associated data within 30 days.
